5 Questions with: Jackson McDonald

Kicking off our new blog series that we’re launching is Jackson McDonald. We decided to open this up so that you, our members, can learn more about the volunteers that keep YIPs running. So spend a minute with us & Jackson.

What does influence mean to you?

I see influence as a perspective or action that has such overwhelming power it can affect beliefs, motivations and ideology without violence or intimidation.

Can you define good leadership?

“Train people well enough so they can leave. Treat them well enough so they don’t want to” – Richard Branson

The most solid piece of advice you’ve received?

It’s great to be ambitious and want more of your career, but make sure that living in the moment with your friends and family isn’t a casualty of that. Job titles don’t appear on tombstones

Which industry do you expect the largest growth from?

I think environmental industries will see large growth as the population becomes more aware of our impact on the world. Things like bio-degradable plastics and effective waste management systems will become big investments.

What book are you reading now?

I’m currently reading a biography about Carrol Shelby who is infamous in the car racing world. Starting life on a chicken farm in Texas and ending up one of the most successful car builders in history.
