A Holistic Approach to Colleague Wellbeing – Marsh

At Marsh New Zealand, there is a key focus on supporting colleague wellbeing through a range of initiatives, inclusive training, mental health resources, flexible parental leave and an annual Wellbeing Festival. Marsh has also taken the next step in their piloting of a wellbeing leave policy.

At Marsh New Zealand, supporting the wellbeing of our colleagues is a top priority, reflected in a wide range of policies, programs, and resources designed to meet diverse needs. From mental health tools to inclusive leadership training, our initiatives aim to foster a safe, supportive, and empowering workplace.

We offer various learning opportunities, including courses on respect, unconscious bias, and inclusive leadership, helping to build a culture of understanding and equity. All colleagues have access to health care management resources, mental health support tools, and confidential counselling services through our third-party Employee Assistance Provider (EAP).

A highlight of our wellbeing calendar is the annual, month-long Wellbeing Festival, which features interactive sessions covering a broad spectrum of topics – from physical and mental health to financial wellbeing. These sessions help colleagues better understand and utilise the benefits and rewards available at Marsh.

In 2023, we introduced Mental Health First Responders training, enabling New Zealand colleagues to join the Marsh McLennan Pacific Peer Support Network. These trained responders provide empathetic, peer-to-peer support during challenging times, strengthening our internal wellbeing ecosystem.

To further enhance support, Marsh is piloting a wellbeing leave policy, offering colleagues dedicated time to focus on their personal wellbeing. Additionally, our extended and flexible parental leave policy provides greater options and support for parents and caregivers, reflecting our commitment to work-life balance and family wellbeing.
