Ando promotes wellbeing through people, community, and environmental initiatives. Recent and upcoming events include Women’s Health Week with movement and connection activities, and Fast Fashion Month featuring a clothes swap and charity donations.
At Ando, our purpose is to positively impact the wellbeing of New Zealanders. To us, wellbeing means three things: people wellbeing (Whanaungatanga), community wellbeing (Manaakitanga) and environmental wellbeing (Kaitiakitanaga). We aim to incorporate these in everything we do on a day-to-day basis. In August and September, we have a couple of exciting events that put a spotlight on environmental and people wellbeing.
Women’s Health Week
In August, Ando will join with the rest of New Zealand to celebrate the second annual NZ Women’s Health Week. Throughout the week, we will be doing a couple of challenges: Move with Intention and Her-Story Sharing – which will see people get moving outside and sharing about important women in their lives. We will also be holding talking cafes around the country to give women at Ando a chance to connect over a coffee. Throughout the week, resources will be shared to raise awareness about different women’s health issues, as well as an offer to fund any overdue smear tests.
Fast Fashion Month
In September, we are hosting our annual ‘Say No to Fast Fashion Month’. The event will invite people to donate their unwanted clothes for a company wide clothes swap. Before people collect the clothes, everyone will have the opportunity to submit a photo dressed in the donated clothes, which will go in the draw for a prize based on different categories. Any clothes that are left over will be donated to charities such as Dress for Success and Foster Hope. Alongside the clothes swap, we will be hosting a screening of Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy.
In October and November, we will host our annual celebrations of Mental Health Awareness Week and Movember – which will be led by our team of wellbeing champions.
We are excited for these opportunities to put wellbeing into practice at Ando and to brighten up the winter months.
