Reflecting on 2025, Marsh's purpose has been ensuring they uplift the voices of their people and community.
What’s been a highlight or achievement for your team this year?
This year, Marsh launched a new Colleague Recognition & Rewards programme to help celebrate colleague contributions and nurture a more connected culture. This initiative was spearheaded by a Colleague Engagement Taskforce, whose goal was to create a culture of ongoing recognition.
Monthly nominations are aligned with Marsh’s Purpose and Commitments, which encourages behaviours that reflect who we are and what we stand for. Leaders play an important role by personally acknowledging nominees and keeping managers in the loop, ensuring everyone’s efforts are seen and valued. Quarterly winners are celebrated with rewards and shout-outs during business updates, while all nominations are shared company-wide.
This new approach directly supports our Colleague Value Proposition, You Can Be Your Best Here, by making recognition a part of our everyday culture and ensuring everyone feels valued, motivated, and inspired to bring their best selves to work.
Any new projects, milestones, or community initiatives?
Marsh is committed to strengthening its Te Ao Māori competency through Tupuhau, our strategy that weaves te reo Māori, tikanga, and mātauranga into our everyday work.
This year, Marsh’s Māori Colleague Resource Group, Te Hōkioi, furthered this strategy through initiatives such as piloting a Te Ao Māori for Professionals language course for 35 Marsh participants, educational webinars on Te Tiriti o Waitangi, celebrations of significant Māori events, and the development of an internal knowledge base to support ongoing learning.
These efforts advance Tupuhau’s vision of authenticity and inclusivity, as well as building a workplace where cultural excellence, diversity, and belonging thrive.
How has your organisation supported young professionals or the industry this year?
In a year of economic uncertainty, Marsh placed a strong emphasis on supporting the growth and development of our young professionals by investing in targeted training and development initiatives designed to build skills, confidence, and industry knowledge.
Our approach included interactive training sessions covering commercial acumen, client management, and proactive behaviours. We also introduced tools to activate support networks and help our colleagues better understand and manage client relationships throughout the customer journey. These efforts were supported by mentorship opportunities, creating a supportive environment for learning and growth.
Despite the challenges posed by a soft market, our young professionals have shown great resilience and commitment. This dedication is reflected in the more than 30 internal promotions awarded this year. By investing in colleague development, Marsh is building a pipeline of confident, capable leaders for the future of the industry.
